History of
Tammy Taylor
Tammy Taylor is a name recognized in the the Professional Nail and Beauty Industry since 1983.
Manicurists and cosmetologist worldwide are well acquainted
with the Tammy Taylor brand as her products are used in over
100,000 salons worldwide. Since today may be your first
introduction to Tammy Taylor, please allow us to tell you a
little bit more about how she started her successful career and
business.
Tammy has been a Licensed Nail Technician in California since
1981. She opened her first salon when she was only 18 years old
with only $400.00. The salon was a modest 385 square feet, but
she had bigger dreams and aspirations. It took less than 2 years
and she had expanded to 3,000 square feet to accommodate 10 nail
technicians and 4 cosmetologists.
News of Tammy's success quickly spread through the Los Angles
and Orange County areas, soon nail technicians from competing
salons began calling Tammy for professional and educational
information. During this time period she was also busy
developing her own line of high quality products to use in her
own salon and sell to other professionals.
Tammy capitalized on the absence of education in the industry
and expanded her salon to include a training classroom to teach
other nail professionals how to sculpt beautiful nails. She held
her classes on Sundays so nail technicians could attend without
impacting their business and used the products she developed in
these classes.
Tammy's reputation for the highest quality nail products and
in-depth education quickly spread throughout the United States.
Her nail products and classes were so popular she started
teaching classes and selling product worldwide.
In 1990
Tammy took another big step and published the book "The Complete
Guide to Manicuring and Nail Technology" in English and Spanish.
Today, all states requiring licensing for nail technicians use
this book for the basis of their State Board Examinations. continued...

 Tammy Taylor "NO-LIFT NAIL KIT": Tammy Taylor Disposable 100-Grit Purple Terminator "Etcher"
- The Tammy Taylor 100-Grit Purple Terminator abrasive is the only file surface I recommend for etching and prepping the natural nail before acrylic application.
- Etch the way the nail grows; this creates little hills & valleys into the natural nail to create a rough, porous surface for the acrylic to adhere to.
- Acrylic will not adhere to a smooth or shiny surface.
- Etching the way the natural nail grows does not cause damage to the natural nail.
- But... Do Not file cross-ways on the natural nail to etch, because this can cause the natural nail to become thin and damaged.
- Never use an old, used file, or you will have lifting.
- The Tammy Taylor Disposable "Etcher" is perfect because you use a brand new 100-Grit Purple Terminator "Etcher" Strip on each client; this insures excellent preparation to eliminate lifting, and it is very economical.
Tammy Taylor "NON-LIFTING NAIL PRIMER"
- Use with any brand of acrylic nail products, that you are presently using
- No other primer will give you better results, consistently and on every client
- Do Not use any type of a pre-primer, nail fresh, pre-bond, nail prep or scrub for adhesion
Warning: After etching, using any types of pre-primes or cleansers, especially anything with alcohol in it, can actually cause lifting, and cost you a lot of money, time and aggravation.
Tammy Taylor Primer is "wet" when acrylic is applied.
The first coat of Tammy Taylor Primer needs to dry, and it will dry out the oils on the nail to kill the germs. The second coat of Primer needs to be applied one nail at a time, just before the wet acrylic is applied. The wet Tammy Taylor Primer and wet acrylic blend together, causing a chemical reaction, which pulls the product into the hills & valleys on the nails. If the second coat of Tammy Taylor Primer dries before putting on the acrylic, apply a third coat of primer.
Tammy Taylor "Primer Holder"
The most important nail investment you will ever make.
Nail primer is an acid and can cause burning if spilled on skin, so Do Not use nail primer without your Tammy Taylor "Primer Holder".
Primer Holder...
- Prevents dangerous primer spills
- The flexible rubber holds the bottle tightly, even when you tilt it
- Available in black, so it will not look dirty with years of use
- Eliminates Broken Primer bottles
- Makes it faster when doing nails because you can use one hand
Tammy Taylor "Plastic Manicure Brush"
- Always use a Tammy Taylor "Plastic Manicure Brush" to clean the nail dust off the nail after etching.
- After etching, there are white particles on the nail-plate. These white particles are dead skin and dirty nail.
- If these particles are not removed, they will clog the valleys we created by etching.
- The nail primer and the product will not flow properly, which will stop adhesion and cause lifting.
- Do not use a cosmetic or fluffy brush to dust off the nails after etching as this can spread germs, mold and fungus, as well as put dust and oil on the nail, which causes lifting.
- Helpful Pointers:
- To eliminate Fill-LINES and a lot of extra work, try not to nip the acrylic back when doing a fill; just file the acrylic nail flush with the natural nail. But... if lifting occurs, you will need to nip, so moisture does not get trapped under the acrylic.
- Do not use a pump for the nail liquid, because it will not allow you to submerge your brush properly, and without the proper amount of liquid for good product consistency, it can cause lifting. Also, pumps can cause liquid contamination, which causes lifting and yellowing.
- Do not etch the natural nail with a drill, because it can cause the natural nail to become damaged and thin, which causes lifting.
Proper nail preparation and product application will help make your nails 100% lift free!
