Hi Girls, "Even When you have been in Business over 50 years like Saks Fifth Ave and Nordstroms, you still need to Run Specials and keep on top of your business." Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom's run specials to encourage new clients and regular clients, to come to their stores.  So, even if you have been doing nails for 15 years and you think running Specials is embarrassing, or that clients might think, "I wonder why she is running Specials?" Clients are not thinking anything except "This is Great; I saved a little money on my fingernails, so now I can also afford to get my toenails done".   Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom's have been in business over 50 years and they aren't embarrassed to run specials, they thrive on it.  But, these stores only do their big sales 3-4 times a year.   So, do not run your big Specials 365 days a year, Only do the big Specials 3-4 times a year.   But, you do need to run little specials to promote new clients, And you need a referral program for your regular clients who refer you new clients 365 days a year.  This will keep your business fresh and growing.  Always encourage new clients, because for every 1 good client that stops coming in, you will need 3 new clients to replace that one good client.  Not every "new" client turns into a good regular client; so you need at least 3 new clients to get 1 good client.  The Salons are now busier and the nail business is back on track, so let's keep it going, stop worrying and start promoting.  You can do it!   NO-LIFT NAIL KIT "Nail preparation eliminates 75% of all nail problems.  Spend 10 minutes prepping the nails with the proper tools and you will cut your time way down on fill-ins.  When clients come in for fill-ins, their nails will be easier to do because there will not be lifting and repairs." Tammy Taylor Disposable "Etcher" File Strips The Tammy Taylor 100-Grit Purple Terminator is the only file I recommend for etching and prepping the natural nail.  Etch the way the fingernail grows; you must etch hills & valleys into the natural nail to create a rough, porous surface as acrylic will not adhere to a smooth or shiny surface.  Etching the way the natural nail grows does not cause damage to the natural nail.  Do not file cross ways to etch, because this can cause the natural nail to become thin and damaged.  Never use an old, used file; the Tammy Taylor Disposable "Etcher" File is perfect because you use a brand new 100 grit Purple Terminator Strip on every client, this insures good preparation and it is very economical.  Tammy Taylor "Pterygium Stone" Use the Tammy Taylor "Pterygium Stone" to remove the excess skin that has grown onto the nail.  We call the "Pterygium Stone" extra insurance because it helps insure lift-free nails and it can be used wet or dry.  To use it wet, keep it in your wet sanitizer and only use Tammy Taylor First Choice.  Other wet sanitizer disinfectants contain chemicals that can cause lifting.  Tammy Taylor "Plastic Manicure Brush" Always use a Tammy Taylor Plastic Manicure Brush to clean off the nail after etching and prepping.  After etching, there are white particles on the nail plate.  These white particles are dead skin and dirty nail.  If these particles are not removed, they will clog the valleys we created by etching.  The primer and acrylic product will not flow properly, which will stop adhesion and cause lifting. Tammy Taylor "Nail Primer" The Tammy Taylor Primer does not need a pre-primer, nail fresh, pre-bond, nail prep or scrub for adhesion.  All these extra products can actually cause lifting, and cost you a lot of money, time and aggravation.   Tammy Taylor Primer is applied 2-3 times before acrylic application.  The first coat of Tammy Taylor Primer needs to dry, and it will dry out the oils on the natural nail to kill the germs.  The second coat needs to be applied one nail at a time just before the wet acrylic is applied.  The wet Tammy Taylor Primer and wet acrylic blend together, causing a chemical reaction, which pulls the product into the hills & valleys on the natural nails.  If the second coat of Tammy Taylor Primer dries before putting on the acrylic, apply a third coat of primer.  SOME WHAT "NOT" TO DO'S You should not need to nip acrylic nails back when doing a fill, and you should be able to just file the acrylic nail flush with the natural nail.  But if lifting occurs, you will need to nip the acrylic, because this will cause fill lines and a lot of extra work.  Do not use any type of pre-primer antiseptics on the nail after etching, especially anything with alcohol in it as these products can cause lifting.  Do not use a pump for the nail liquid because it will not allow you to submerge your brush properly; and without the proper amount of liquid for a good acrylic product ball, poor consistency can cause lifting.  Also, pumps can cause liquid contamination, which causes lifting and yellowing.  Do not etch the natural nail with a drill because the drill can cause the natural nail to become damaged and thin, which causes lifting.  Do not use a cosmetic fluffy brush to dust off the natural nails after prepping, as this can spread germs, mold and fungus, as well as put dust and oil on the natural nail, which causes lifting.  Proper nail preparation and product application will help make your nails 100% lift free!
