Cosmetologist: 1600 hours - http://www.barbercosmo.ca.gov/
Esthetician: 600 hours
Manicurist: 400 hours
Barber: 1500 hours
Electrologist: 600 hours.
Minimum Requirements:All applicants must be at least 17 years of age and have at least a 10th grade education or its' equivalent.
Reciprocity: No reciprocity available. Applicants must take written and practical exam. In the case of barbers, Barbers have to take both a written and a practical examination, however, barber instructors require only a written exam.

MMA has been prohibited in one manner or another in this state.
Prohibited can mean:
A law or rule has been passed prohibiting MMA use.
The technician and/or shop will receive a written/verbal warning possibly after a consumer complaint or inspection by state officials.
A fine may be accessed if a violation occurs.
The state abides by the FDA guidelines.

989. Prohibited Hazardous Substances/Use of Products

No establishment or school shall have on the premises cosmetic products containing hazardous substances which have been banned by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration for use in cosmetic products, including liquid methyl methacrylate monomer and methylene chloride. No product shall be used in a manner that is disapproved by the FDA.

Colorado

Barber: 1250 hours
Cosmetologist: 1450 hours
Cosmetician: 550 hours
Manicurist: 350 hours
Minimum Requirements: Applicants for licensure must be at least 16 years of age. Home salons and mobile salons allowed. Home salons and Mobile salons allowed.
Reciprocity: Colorado does not have reciprocity, we have endorsement and everyone who holds an active license in another state may apply for endorsement and everyone is reviewed on an individual basis.

A law or rule has been passed prohibiting MMA use.

Delaware

Manicurist: 125 hours, apprenticeship 250 hours.
Delaware does not allow drills to be used on natural nails.

16.3 Electric nail files and electric drills shall not be used on natural nails. The use of methyl methacrylate (MMA) is prohibited. No licensee, instructor, certified aesthetician, school, beauty salon or shop shall use or permit the use of MMA.

Estheticians: 300 Hours apprenticeship 600 Hours.
Reciprocity extended to ALL States, including DC.
