Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and of good moral character.
MMA BANNED
Reciprocity: without examination. Must hold a current license from another State.
There is NO reciprocity for Manicurist License.
Home Salons allowed.

As of July 1, 2000 all techs must get 10 hours of continuing Education in
order to renew the license. Unless if the license is 30 years active.

Idaho

Barbers Examiners
COSMETOLOGY: 2000 Hours, apprenticeship 4000 hours
Esthetician: 800 hours, apprenticeship 1600 hours
Nail Technician: 300 Hours
Must be at least 161/2 years of age and finished two years of High School or its equivalent.
Reciprocity: granted to those applicants whose State has the same requirements or greater than Idaho. Work experience is a consideration if it is within the last three years prior to application.

Illinois

Cosmetologist: 1500 hours

Nail Technician: 350 hours
All applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Each applicant must have a minimum 8th grade education. If an applicant does not have a high school diploma or its' equivalent they must take an Ability to Benefit test.
(Nov 2000) Nail techs in Illinois may now "beautify" the skin of the hands, feet, forearms and calves.

Reciprocity: Based on laws in issuing state compared to Illinois Law during the time period in which the applicant was licensed. The state does credit the applicant for work experience.

Indiana

Cosmetologist: 1500 hours
Esthetician: 700 hours
Manicurist: 300 hours  -  Changed in 2002:  The new hours for a Manicuring License in Indiana is 450 hours.

Applicants for Cosmetologist and Estheticians must be at least 18 years of age and have at least a 10th grade education or its' equivalent, applicants for a nail technician must be at least 17 years, 6 months of age and have at least an 8th grade education.
Reciprocity: Applicants that have been licensed as a Cosmetologist in another state may obtain a license in the state of Indiana as long as the state they are originally licensed in has requirements equal to those of Indiana. In the cases where the training is less than Indiana's requirements than the applicant will receive 100 hours of credit for each 1 year period of practical work experience. All applicants regardless of length of time licensed in another state must take an examination on the Rules and Regulations of Indiana pertaining to the profession they are applying for licensure in. If the issuing state did not require the applicant to take a practical examination they must do so to become licensed in Indiana.
